Ethiopian Institution of the Ombudsman and Justice and Legal System Research Institute (JLSRI) signed Memorandum of Understanding in the month of September that will allow the two institutions synchronize resources and carry out researches for mutual benefit.

Signing the MoU, Chief Ombudsman Mrs. Fozia Amin said the agreement would benefit citizens in promoting good governance and implement Access to Information law, which will be commenced shortly in Ethiopia.

The promotion of good governance and implementation of Access to Information Law requires active participation of stakeholders, particularly in the area of research and advocacy for which the Institute will play a big role.

Examining the effectiveness of applicable laws, conducting research studies that help identify gaps in existing laws and recommend for the enactment of new laws and help the EIO strengthen its activities are among the core activities that will be implemented between the two institutions.
